Saturday 5th September, from 9am

Free consultation with a Specialist Orthodontist, worth £99, yours whether you start treatment or not

£500 off Invisalign or fixed braces started on the day

Retainers and at-home whitening included, a savings package worth up to £1,494

One Saturday only, on 5th September - we are normally closed at weekends

Every smile tells a story and we’re proud to be part of so many across Burton on Trent, Stapenhill and the wider East Staffordshire community. Here’s what some of our patients have said about their Modwena Orthodontics experience:

We do not normally offer free consultations anywhere at Modwena, because ours are not a five-minute look in your mouth. You get a 3D scan with our iTero scanner, any x-rays you need, clinical photographs and a plan built around your teeth, discussed properly with Richard or Sunny. This part is yours regardless of what you decide afterwards, and it is the only part of the package that comes with no strings at all.

Straight off the price of Invisalign or fixed braces if you decide to start on the day. Not a voucher, not credit against something else. £500 less to pay for the smile you came in about. This one is genuinely for 5th September only.

Straight teeth are one thing. Straight and brighter is the version most people picture when they imagine the finished result. Our Boutique at-home kit is made to fit your teeth and used in your own time. For patients aged 18 and over, where it is suitable for you.

This is the part people forget to ask about, and it is the part that keeps the result. Included on the day: either three sets of removable retainers, worth £500, or fixed retainers with a set of removable ones, worth £220. Richard or Sunny will tell you which suits your teeth.
Most of the adults we treat in Burton say some version of this. There is rarely a perfect moment. There is just a Saturday, a free scan, and someone telling you honestly whether it can be done and what it would take.
Fair enough. Invisalign is barely visible and comes out when you eat and brush. If your case needs fixed braces, they do not have to be silver. Radiance ceramic brackets are tooth-coloured, and Iconix brackets are a soft champagne shade rather than steel.
That is the honest question, and the scan answers it. You will see your teeth on screen as they are now, and how they would move. If your case is not suitable, we will say so on the day rather than sell you something.
Crowded and overlapping teeth are harder to keep clean than straight ones, which is one of the less glamorous reasons orthodontics is worth doing. With aligners, you take them out and brush normally.
Bringing them for a look costs you nothing on the day, and you will leave knowing whether anything needs doing and when. Plenty of parents from Burton, Swadlincote and the villages around use the open day to get a straight answer without waiting.

No queue, no crowded waiting room, no sitting about wondering when you will be seen. You get your own appointment time on the Saturday.
Both clinicians working on the day are on the General Dental Council's specialist register for orthodontics. It is not a word we use loosely. It is a formal registration, and it is why dentists across Staffordshire, Derbyshire and Leicestershire send us their patients.
Between them, they can only see so many people in one Saturday.

Richard qualified in dentistry at Birmingham in 1984 and has worked in Burton on Trent since January 1985. He spent 17 years as a clinical assistant in orthodontics at Royal Derby Hospital, working on complex multi-disciplinary cases, and joined the GDC's specialist orthodontic register in 2002.
He founded Modwena Orthodontics in 2009. He is in the practice two days a week now, having made room for rather more cycling and gardening, though you will still hear him before you see him.

Sunny joined us in 2016. He qualified in dentistry at Manchester in 2008, worked as a general dentist across the Midlands, then spent time in maxillofacial surgery and paediatric hospital posts in the North West before completing his orthodontic specialist training at Cardiff with distinction.
He is the one who enjoys the technical side of a difficult case, and the moment at the end when someone sees their teeth for the first time. Outside the practice he is usually up a mountain. Machu Picchu and Kilimanjaro are both ticked off.

We are a referral practice in Burton on Trent. Dentists across Staffordshire, Derbyshire and Leicestershire send their patients to us, which tells you more than anything we could write here

Open since January 2009, in the Grade II listed building overlooking the River Trent, the memorial gardens and St Modwen's church that gave us our name.

We run over 120 clear aligner cases a year, so yours is unlikely to be the first of its kind we have seen.

Invisalign, stainless steel braces, Radiance ceramic, Iconix champagne brackets, and lingual braces behind the teeth for the cases that call for them.

iTero scanning, 3D imaging, OPG and lateral ceph, and CBCT where a case needs it.

Town centre, minutes from the bus and train stations and several car parks, and a straightforward run in from Swadlincote, Ashby de la Zouch, Uttoxeter and Lichfield. Step-free entrance, ground floor surgeries and accessible facilities. We are a BDA Good Practice member.

Most of us have worked side by side for over sixteen years. It shows in the atmosphere, which is friendly and relaxed rather than clinical and quiet.

This open day offer applies to private orthodontic treatment.

A series of clear, custom-made aligners that you wear over your teeth and change every week or two. Each one moves your teeth a fraction further than the last. They come out to eat, drink and brush, and most people you meet will not notice them.
Before a single aligner is made, we scan your teeth with the iTero and build a preview of the whole treatment on screen. Your teeth as they are today, moving step by step to how they would finish. You see the likely result and get a realistic timescale before you commit to anything.

Small brackets bonded to your teeth, connected by a wire that is adjusted at each visit. They stay put, which is what makes them the most predictable route for complicated movements. Rotated teeth, big gaps, bite problems, teeth that have not come through properly.
Fixed does not mean obvious. Radiance ceramic brackets are clear and tooth-coloured. Iconix brackets are a warm champagne shade. And for a small number of cases, Incognito lingual braces sit behind the teeth, out of sight completely.
No. The consultation is free either way and there is no obligation. The £500 off, the retainers and the whitening are for patients who go ahead on the 5th, and they are not available afterwards, so we will be upfront about that on the day so you can decide with the full picture in front of you.
No, this open day is for private treatment. We do provide NHS orthodontics for under-18s through the usual referral route from your dentist, and that runs separately from this event.
Yes, and plenty of Burton parents will. The free consultation applies to children as well as adults. Whitening is for over-18s only.
A full assessment with a Specialist Orthodontist, a 3D scan of your teeth, clinical photographs and any x-rays that are needed. You will go through your options with the orthodontist and our treatment coordinator, and a written report follows afterwards with the findings, the options and the costs.
Teeth feel tender for a few days after braces go on and after each adjustment, and the same when you move to a new set of aligners. Most people manage with normal painkillers and say it settles quickly. Nobody here will pretend you will not feel anything.
It depends entirely on what needs moving. Some cases are a matter of months, others take a year and a half or more. You will get a realistic estimate on the day, not a guess.
Not for private treatment. You can come to this open day directly, wherever you are registered.
Two orthodontists, one Saturday. Once the times are gone, they are gone, and the next chance to be seen is a normal weekday appointment at the usual £99.
