The Practice was opened in January 2009, to provide an opportunity for patients in South East Staffordshire, South Derbyshire, and the surrounding area to receive specialist orthodontic treatment.
Qualified in Dentistry from Birmingham University in November 1984. He has worked in Burton – on – Trent since January 1985 developing a special interest in orthodontics and building up a busy referral orthodontic list.
He has worked in Burton,Swadlincote and Ashbourne. He has worked as a clinical assistant in Orthodontics at the Derbyshire Royal Infirmary and Royal Derby Hospital from 1996 to 2012 working on many complex multi disciplined cases, as a result of this and his experience, in May 2002 was accepted as a Specialist Orthodontist on to the Specialist Orthodontic Register by the General Dental Council.
A keen member of the Local Orthodontic Committee and British Orthodontic Society keeps abreast of all thats new in orthodontics. In 2009 he established Modwena Orthodontics.
Outside the practice a family man who enjoys sport, although Rugby has given him up, is a keen tennis player.
Sunil (Sunny) qualified with a Dental degree at the University of Manchester in 2008, after which he worked as a general dentist for several years in the Midlands. He then decided to broaden his dental skills and gain invaluable experience, by working within hospitals in various Maxillo-facial surgery and Paediatric positions in the North West.
This led him to specialise in Orthodontics at Cardiff University and finish his Orthodontic specialist training with distinction in 2016. Sunil thoroughly enjoys the ever changing technical and scientific aspects of being an Orthodontist, in particular transforming people’s teeth to give them a confident smile.
He is also an active member of the Royal College of Surgeons and British Orthodontic Society.
Away from Orthodontics Sunny enjoys skiing although at present a lot of his spare time is taken up with flying lessons as he is hoping to gain his private pilots licence in the future.
Karen has continued, and enjoyed a career in dentistry for over 30 years, only taking a short time out to have her 2 children.
She joined Richard as Practice Manager in 2008 prior to Modwena Orthodontics opening in January 2009 and has enjoyed watching it evolve to the busy practice it is today. In 2012 she attended Sheffield Hallam University’ Dental Practice Manager course.
In her spare time Karen enjoys spending time with family and friends,walking her beloved Jack Russell, holidays by the sea, gardening and trying to maintain being a glamorous Nanna while keeping up with her little Granddaughter.
Hayley started her nursing career in 1995, qualified in 1998 gaining her dental radiography in 2003. She has worked with Richard as an ortho nurse since 2002. Hayley has successfully completed an Orthodontic therapists course at Manchester University Dental Hospital gaining her qualification in June 2011.
Outside work Hayley enjoys cycling ,keeping fit and spending time with the family and family dog Buddy!
